Swatch Party...Saturday?! | Gourmande Girls If Stef Wears It Highlighter Palette

Hey, it’s (the day after) payday, and you’re looking to treat yourself after a long week of not flipping every document on your work desk and throwing the computer out of the window. Of course, that treat is going to be makeup (what else would it be), but what do you choose?

Swatch Party Fridays are here to save the day! After watching ThatGirlShaeXO perform dozens (if not hundreds) of live swatches on her face it inspired me to do the same all in the name of helping you find that next holy grail item.

Every week I’ll swatch a product on my arm and respective application site (minus glitters because, at the end of the day, I love myself too much to do that to my face). I hope this growing swatch catalog of my own personal collection will help you decide if it’s meant to have a home in your check out basket.

After all, what better way to celebrate the weekend than with makeup? I’ll wait…

Gourmande Girls

Ok Ok Ok I’m late…and a little wishy washy…but I’m finally pulling myself out of the pumpkin pie haze to get back to the good stuff. And apparently my motto for 2019 is “better late than never” because…here we are.

Gourmande Girls is owned by boss babe besties Christina and Stef whom I luckily stumbled upon through Instagram. Their passion for European inspired cosmetics and their larger than life take on style is front and center. Their products range from imported fragrance to bold hits of color.

The If Stef Wears It Palette ($30 USD), to me, is as if an Hourglass Ambient Light Palette and an Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow kit had a baby. They give a creamy glow to the skin while also giving a hint of other-worldly alien-babe color.

I am 1) 100% biased in my opinion on this brand - not because I am paid to be (which I am not) but because I resonate with the brand philosophy and their attitude towards cosmetics, women’s empowerment, and our animal friends.

I am 2) fully aware some of the bottom row of highlighters are too dark for my skin tone. I tried to build up my bronzer a bit for the final shade (since I would realistically use it as more of a bronzer or blush topper) but I would LOVE to see a medium skin tone rock the green shade. Any girl with olive tan undertones who wants to check this palette out PLEASE send me a selfie because that shade with a light hand is going to look SICKENING on you and I need to see you SLAY.

Holiday Gratitude Challenge & Giveaway Day 2: Taking Stock

Hello Friends! Day 2 is already here?! Craziness!

Today’s prompt

Taking stock:

List 5 people or things (big or small) that you’re grateful for.

There are several reasons I think it’s a good idea to do this on a semi-regular basis. The first is a whole Law of Attraction thing that you can research if you feel like it’s something you want to learn about (my faves are Jen Sincero and Manifestation Babe).

The second is to remind yourself of your own power and your propensity for good things in this world. Was there anything you’ve accomplished after working really hard for it? Are there parts of your day, week, year, that make you smile uncontrollably? Do you just love your dog?! (I really love my dog, ok?!)

Sometimes it’s easy to get caught up in the things you haven’t received yet or accomplished yet and this isn’t to say goals are bad things (goals are really really good things!). This is to say that just because you haven’t finished the journey yet, it doesn’t mean that you haven’t travelled miles already.

5 (More) Things I’m Grateful For

In Addition To The Instagram and Youtube Additions

1) Heated Blankets - If you live in a semi-cold location and you don’t have a heated blanket lemme tell ya you’re missing out. Hands down one of my best life choices (the absolute cozy-est!).

2) Podcasts - I have been turned on to several amazing podcasts thanks to my Insta-Girls. It’s one of the easiest and most effective ways I keep on top of my mindset. Whenever I’m in the car or doing chores, I love popping on a podcast and doing my inner and outer work.

Some fave Podcasts:

The Manifestation Babe Podcast

No Man’s Land by The Wing

Oprah’s Super Soul Conversations

Earn Your Happy by Lori Harder

3) Bagels - Yes, I am aware that bagels are like 12 loaves of bread, a billion calories, and probably the ones who slashed my tires. But I love them. A great bagel is enough to make me sing with joy and dang it if a bagel is what ends up killing me then so be it! Death by bagel sounds like a great death to me.

4) Audible - Hey, isn’t Audible like a really long podcast? Yes, probably. But I still enjoy the service (and most amazon services) immensely. The way I listen to podcasts is generally the way I listen to my audible books and it has really been a massive help in my personal development over the last several years.

Fave Audible Books:

Anything by Jen Sincero (just do it, ok?!)

The Secret by Rhonda Byrne

29 Gifts: How a Month of Giving Can Change Your Life by Cami Walker

5) My Day Job - My day job is not perfect. My day job isn’t all that I hope to accomplish in life. My day job is good. My day job provides me with the means to support myself. My day job is helping me create the time for what I want to be my day job (ie: this). I get to talk to wonderful people and spend time with wonderful people and help people during my day job. My day job is not what I want to do the rest of my life but it is good and I am thankful.

Holiday Gratitude Challenge & Giveaway Day 1: Life Happens In The Moment

Hello Friends!

I’m so excited for you to be here and to partake in this free gratitude challenge!

Today’s Prompt:

Where are you? What are you doing? And why is it ultimately good?

I am pulling my second late night to produce content for this challenge. My day today wasn’t great and it wasn’t terrible. I was feeling cranky, low vibe, and aggravated. I caught myself thinking mean thoughts about others over silly things that I know deep down don’t matter. I wasn’t feeling very grateful during my gratitude challenge.

But then I recorded the audio for my video today and somehow I reminded myself about what it means to be grateful each moment - to live life moment to moment. Basically, I used my own challenge to teach me my own point. The irony isn’t lost on me.

“Now, Cara, why another mug?!”

Well, for one, I like drawing random things on my face. And for two it’s my favorite way to practice mindfulness. There are few things that bring me the same amount of joy as my morning coffee or my bedtime tea. When it’s too hot I’m forced to be patient. When it’s the perfect temperature I have to force myself to pay attention to it in order to enjoy every drop before I eventually forget about it and it’s too cold to drink. There is only one moment in time it’s the perfect drinking temperature and I intend to be present for every second of it.
