Swatch Party Friday! | Kleancolor Along the Lines Liquid Eyeliner

Hey, it’s payday, and you’re looking to treat yourself after a long week of not flipping every document on your work desk and throwing the computer out of the window. Of course, that treat is going to be makeup (what else would it be), but what do you choose?

Swatch Party Fridays are here to save the day! After watching ThatGirlShaeXO perform dozens (if not hundreds) of live swatches on her face it inspired me to do the same all in the name of helping you find that next holy grail item.

Every week I’ll swatch a product on my arm and respective application site (minus glitters because, at the end of the day, I love myself too much to do that to my face). I hope this growing swatch catalog of my own personal collection will help you decide if it’s meant to have a home in your check out basket.

After all, what better way to celebrate the weekend than with makeup? I’ll wait…

Kleancolor

Now…I’ll be honest and say I might have gone a little overboard with the $1 USD Along the Lines eyeliners…But with so many colors to choose from, can you blame me?

These eyeliners have an interesting latex-like finish where (if you wanted to) you could peel off the color once it’s dried to remove. That doesn’t bother me. What bothers me is the sour apple candy smell to the product that gets stuck in your nose. It’s not hindering me from using them, because I quite like them for the price, but it is something to be aware of.

Additionally, the liners do not have the names written on the bottle which I find irritating from both a blogging and consumer standpoint (being it might be difficult to figure out exactly what shade to re-purchase).

However, overall I have very few complaints about this $1 liner. It feeds a special place in my crazy makeup “collect it all” spirit that I just can’t seem to deny.

Black Opal

Black Opal is a black owned beauty brand who specialize in cosmetics geared towards people of color. Now, as you can see, I am decidedly NOT a woman of color…however, I’ve found cosmetic brands that have melanin on the mind kick up the pigment to such jaw dropping levels in order to show up on deeper skin. Let’s face it, we love ourselves some bold pigment here at BackPorchPoet. Good makeup is good makeup, regardless of the target audience.

I received these shades at a makeup convention earlier in the year so they are not available individually, however, if you search for the names of these shades you will be able to find the respective palettes they belong to!

Eyeshadow Palettes range from $4-$9USD on the Black Opal Website.

Grande Cosmetics

Fall is in the air and I couldn’t resist talking about these plumping lipsticks in sweater weather shades. These semi-matte liquid lipsticks retail for around $25 USD on the brand website.

I have to admit, these lippies have one of the most unique formulas I’ve ever tried. The best way I can describe the feeling is that it’s like putting a full coverage foundation on your lips… and not in a bad way! They’re creamy and have a nice slip to them that doesn’t feel as though it might migrate across your face. However, HUGE disclaimer - if you don’t like plumping products due to the tingle, this is not for you. They have the tell-tale plump burn that I personally enjoy but may not be comfortable for everyone.
